Inca is known as the capital of the region of Es Raiguer, and it is the most important city in the inner island. It is located south of the Sierra de Tramuntana and borders the municipalities of Binissalem, Lloseta, Sencelles, Costitx, Sineu, Llubí, Sa Pobla, Búger, Campanet and Selva. The population of Inca has more than 30,000 inhabitants, being one of the most populated towns on the island.
The origin of its name is unknown, but it seems its roots are in the pre-Roman cultures. Inca is famous for its footwear and leather industry, and has given birth to companies of great national and international relevance. Inca is also known for hosting the largest market in Mallorca: the Dijous Bo, as well as some other big fairs during the previous weeks.
Inca celebrates its patron saint festivities for San Abdón and San Senén at the end of July.
