The village of Montuïri is located on the Pla de Mallorca region
Its village neighbors are Llucmajor, Porreres, Algaida, Sant Joan and Lloret de Vistalegre. Currently, its population has less than 3,000 inhabitants, many of which work in Palma or Manacor. The origin of his name is uncertain. Although it is known that the town was part of the Muslim district of Muntuy, there are also theories that claim that the name comes from Latin. The economy of Montuïri has been for centuries mainly agricultural, but, in the last decades, the services sector, rural tourism and industry have gained popularity.
Montuïri celebrates its fair on the first Sunday of December and is known as Fira de sa Perdiu, which features a partridge competition. In recent years, the village also organizes a pa amb oli fair in early summer. Montuïri's popular feasts are celebrated on the occasion of San Bartomeu. The Cossiers dances are the main highlight.
Montuïri's weekly market is held every Monday morning at the Plaza Mayor.
