Santa Eugènia village is located in Es Pla de Mallorca region.
It is just a few kilometers far from Palma, with which it shares borders. It also borders with the municipalities of Consell, Algaida, Sencelles and Santa Maria del Camí, from which it was administratively a member, until the village became independent in the 19th century.
The name of Santa Eugènia comes from the senyor (owner) of the alqueria (the traditional Majorcan farmhouse) that ended up becoming the current town: his name was Bernat de Santa Eugènia. Nowadays the municipality has more than 1,600 inhabitants, distributed among the main town and small alqueries. Agriculture (especially wheat, vines, and vegetables), on the one hand, and construction, on the other, are the main economic drivers of Santa Eugènia.
Santa Eugènia celebrates its main festivities in August and in summer there are also nice events such as the Mostra, a Performing Arts Festival (in July). The traditional fair of the town, Santa Eugènia's Fair, is celebrated in spring, in the month of April.
The weekly market of Santa Eugènia takes place every Saturday.
